General

From what age can my child start the typing course?

Most students who start our typing course are between 8 and 14 years old. As soon as your child regularly uses a keyboard and can concentrate for at least 10 minutes a day, he or she can start the typing course. Our typing course is playful and interactive, keeping it fun and educational even for young children.

How long does it take to finish the course and how often should I practise?

Our typing course consists of 6 chapters, each with about 25 exercises. How quickly you complete the course depends on how often and how long you practise. We recommend practising 10 to 30 minutes daily. Based on this rhythm, you can finish the course within 6 to 12 weeks.

Is the typing course suitable for children with dyslexia?

Yes, our typing course is specially designed to be accessible to children with dyslexia. We help children with dyslexia not only to learn how to blind, but also become more confident in their digital skills.

What are the requirements to pass the final exam?

What is the difference between a professional and hobby account?

With a professional account, the online learning environment is ad-free and you benefit from extra features that help you better track your progress. For example, you will have access to graphs showing your speed and accuracy.

Is the typing course also suitable for adults?

Absolutely! Our typing course is not only suitable for children, but also for adults. The app is visually appealing for children, but the method of teaching typing skills is the same for children and adults. In addition, you can set the lesson level to four different levels: Beginner, Easy, Normal and Hard. So everyone can learn to type at their own pace and level.

Can multiple children work on one account at the same time?

We don't recommend to have several children working on one account at the same time, because each child's progress is then not properly tracked. Which can result in the technique not being taught properly, which is of course a waste of time and effort. Via our sign up page, you can quickly and easily sign up multiple children. Each child then gets their own login details, allowing them to see their personal progress and learn at their own pace.

Is my tablet compatible to use the application?

Yes, our online learning app is compatible with tablets! However, it is important to connect an external keyboard, as most tablets do not have a physical keyboard. In addition, your tablet must have a screen resolution of at least 1140 pixels to work properly.

Is my computer compatible to use the application?

As long as your computer has a stable internet connection and you use a modern web browser, you can start our typing course without any problems. We recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, as these browsers work best with our learning app. It does not matter whether you use a laptop or a desktop.

I forgot my username, what should I do now?

Don't worry, we're happy to help! If you have forgotten your username, please contact us. You can reach us via the contact form or send an email to info@typeolymp.com. In your message, please include the e-mail address you used when registering, the name of the student and the date of birth. We will then look up your user name in our database and send it back to you via e-mail as soon as possible.

My screen resolution is too low, what to do?

If your screen resolution is too low to follow the typing course properly, there are a few things you can try:

1. Adjust screen resolution: You can try adjusting your device's screen resolution through the system settings. This can often be done through the display or screen settings of your computer, laptop or tablet.

2. Zoom out in the browser: Another option is to zoom in your web browser. This can help make the interface more visible without having to adjust your screen resolution. To do this, use the Ctrl and - keys (on Windows) or the Command and - keys (on Mac) to zoom out.

Can students continue practising at home?

Yes, students can also continue practising at home once they have received their username and password. They can sign in to the online learning app at home and continue directly where they left off at school.

How can I prevent students from working too far ahead?

To prevent enthusiastic students from going through the lessons too quickly, you can set a ‘start date’ for each exercise. This keeps an exercise closed until it automatically becomes available on the start date. This ensures a structured progression and gives everyone enough time to practise at the right pace.
